Everton's decision not to make Conor Coady's Goodison Park loan a permanent move this summer has seen some Leicester City fans calling on their club to swoop for the defender.

The 30-year-old spent the season on loan with the Toffees, but they have announced he will now re-join parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers after Everton declined to take up a £4.5 million permanent option on his loan agreement. Coady played a total of 24 times in the Premier League, scoring one goal.

The announcement has caught the attention of City fans, who have identified the centre-back as a potential target in the transfer window. They took to social media to give their thoughts.

Sean Sweeney : "#LCFC Would be a v good option for us"

Dave Bott : "Call me crazy, but sign him up!! We need street fighters, not choir boys."

RFOX55 : "He’d be a quality signing for our Championship campaign. An actual leader in the dressing room. Good Evans replacement. #LCFC"

Dan Disarra : "If it's true Conor Coady was available on a permanent for £4.5 million. GERRIM IN @LCFC give the man a 3 year deal, make him captain and let him set the tone for the rebuild. The man brings character and leadership."

Coady could be brought in as a potential replacement for Jonny Evans, who is out of contract at the end of the season. The club captain hinted following the final game of the season against West Ham that he may not be offered a new deal.

Coady therefore, could be seen as a signing similar to the mould of Evans, when he arrived at the club in 2018. The former Manchester United captain cost just £3.5 million thanks to a relegation clause in his West Brom contract.

Coady would cost in the similar region and bring with him both Premier League and Championship experience, having lifted the Championship title with Wolves back in 2018.

Having captained Wolves, the defender would bring much needed leadership to a team that has missed some since the sale of Kasper Schmeichel in the summer.

The problem would be if City are able to convince Coady to drop down to the Championship, with there bound to be some Premier League interest in him this summer, something which could make any potential move hard. His wages could also be a factor, with City needing to reduce their wage bill in the summer rebuild.

As long as that's not a problem, the promise of regular game time as well as the hope that he’ll be able to help City bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt could be factors pointed out by the club should they join the race to sign the player this summer.
